Gynecomastia, or enlarged male breasts, can be treated with male breast reduction surgery, which removes excess tissue to create a flatter, more masculine chest. The procedure may involve liposuction alone or the removal of glandular tissue through excision. Incisions are typically placed around the areola or in the breast crease for minimal visibility.
The surgery typically takes one to two hours and is performed under IV sedation or general anesthesia. Afterward, a compressive garment will be worn for a few weeks to support healing. Most patients can return to work within a week.
